I was really looking forward to all those IM conversations being posted, and the reaction of those who probably didn't even know their chats were being saved for future publication.

That would have been the biggest scandal since Nijo stumbled on that camuflated site.

This is oarsum. And insane.

I have four simple words of advice: Who the fuck cares?

[That was a rhetorical question - there are obviously posters who care about this make believe world. I still don't see how any of this has transgressed over into the real world.]

who cares? True but knowing the nature of this place, such a thread will probably get tons of hits and comments - though many of those comments will of course be of "who cares" but they will still look regardless

I'm with mutha on the 4th annual death of the stew post.

I would really appreciate if someone could explain to me (in a few, clear sentences) what happened with zara/shmish/manos/my handle getting deleted.

Not bloody likely. We've got six pages of speculation on this thread, and no clear answers.

I'm a bit disappointed that it's taken me till today to read this thread..

Bit disappointing in the end - it promised so much!

The Weekend of Doom came and went, but where were the old posts and emails?

Anyhoo - just on the offchance she does peek back in here, I have a question for Zara:

Zara - to my knowledge we've never fueded. I've either missed or been too lazy to read the fueds that you referred to in this thread.
However, I notice that you've complained about revisionism to make you look bad, deleting of posts, editing, etc.
It's a bugbear of mine, so my question is this - given that you dislike the selective editing/revisionism that can lead to such a situation, can you confirm that you personally have never been in the habit of deleting posts that annoyed you while a mod, or PMing mods asking for the same to be done when you weren't?
Thanks. That's all.

Manos blocked me (shmish) from the forum one day. Can't remember the exact reason why, but it was when everything had really come to a head behind the scenes and Manos was making sweeping and really weird executive decisions without discussing it with anyone that was supposed to be helping to run the forum and hold stuff together. (like blocking mods from the site entirely without discussion). At the time, as I'm sure it is now, being a mod was a pretty active job. We were dealing with the crazy porn posting guy all the time, which could take up hours of your time and the crazy white supremisists who seemed determined to try to guide the direction of the forum to follow their crazy ideology and it just seemed like an odd time for Manos to come in throwing his power around and dismissing all sorts of agreements that those who spend long hours at the forum has made long before.

After I was dismissed and had signed back in as doodle, Jono (the sweetest and most trusting mod on the board) and I were in touch to talk about the issue and he granted me access back into modland. I took advantage of his good nature that night... something I regretted very much afterwards. And apologized for. And continue to regret very much.

Anyway, I deleted Manos. I did not speak to anyone about it before hand and it was utterly and completely of my own doing. And, even though I can look back now and see that it was wrong I don't feel at all bad about that aspect of this entire mess. That still seems just.

From my perspective at the time it was the right thing to do and deleting the handle was the only way (with my small amount of technical know how about how the back room actually worked) that I could figure out to do it.

It was for the reasons I won't try to explain because it's already been done to death in this, and many other, threads. I didn't delete anyone else but Manos and I believe I left the mod room for good after right after I did that. Probably because my "shmish" handle had been permanently deleted by Manos.

I did not and would NEVER have deleted Koolhass, because he was great and always a pleasure to have in the mod room). I don't know how or why that deletion or demotion happened.

I actually received several PMs after the event from members of the forum thanking me for making the move to remove Manos. And then there were others who were less than kind and even less informed.

Anyway, that's the truth. I know only a portion of you will believe it... because, well, there are as many realities in this world as there are people.

And how very funny all this is to think about now so very many years out. It was all so important then. What a laugh I have at my own expense.

I enjoy you people. Even those of you that I don't enjoy.

It's been a hoot to come back and poke around.

hmmm, TP, I was a mod right out of the gate. Koolhass actually asked me to come on board right away... but anyway, doesn't matter. It's all long dead grudges and soap opera like feuds that are funny now, though it was all infuriating at the time.

Yes! Things are going well for me in real estate. We've had a hot market the last couple of years, amazingly enough. Went from selling 7 houses in '06 to 6 houses in '07. Those were my "penance" years.

Joined a kickass RE team with two other great agents and took over the roll of sole buyer's specialist for the team. That kicked my numbers up to 36 houses sold in '08 and this year I'm standing at 27 home sales with another dozen or so clients in the hopper that are hoping to buy before the end of the year.

Don't know if I'll beat last year, but I am going for it. LIfe is pretty good when you work for yourself and you can find a way to make it a success.

Lovely to see you here, Shmish - the board hasn't been the same without you. And Jono, for that matter.
Not to mention "country" is defined differently in many sports. (TPH)
